FAQ

I: ABOUT SOLAR POWER

1. What is Solar Power?

Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using Photo Voltaic (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photo Voltaic convert light into electric current using the photoelectric effect.

2. What is the difference between CSP & PV?

CSP needs Heat Energy from the sun which is concentrated on a concave reflective surface to heat water & converted to seam & electricity is generated. In PV No heat is needed, Light Energy from sun is used to generate electricity instantly using photoelectric effect.

3: What are the different types of PV system?

There are two types of PV system, Grid Connected & Off Grid System.

Grid Connected: The power generated by the system is used directly without any battery backup.

Off Grid : The power generated by the system is used & the excess power is stored in batteries using battery bank, which can by later used during power cuts & during night time..

4: What are the main components of off grid PV system?

The below mentioned parts are the main components of an Off Gris Solar PV system.

a: Solar PV Modules

b: Solar Inverter (PCU – Power Conditioning Unit)

c: Solar Batteries.

5: How does an Off Grid Solar PV system works?

When sunlight falls on the panels, they convert the sun light to DC current using photoelectric effect, that DC power is sent to the Solar Inverter (PCU) where conditions the incoming DC power & send it to the Battery bank to charge the Battery. After the battery is charged, the DC current from Battery flows again to the PCU which converts the DC to AC & that AC Current is sent to the loads (lights, fans, Television, Computers Etc..). II: ABOUT SOLAR POWER SYSTEM

1. How much sun do solar system need?

Sunlight is important for solar, but even cloudy areas are great for solar energy. It doesn’t matter as much where you live, As long as your roof is free of shade and faces the South you’ll get plenty of sunshine for panels.

2. How much roof space does solar system need?

On average, for every kilowatt (kW) installed, a home solar system takes up about 80 square feet.

3. Should I install solar power system on my house?

Going solar can be a very smart financial choice, depending on your home and how much you’re currently paying for power. It will help you save upto 80% of your Electricity Bill.

4. How many Watts of solar system do I need for my home?

The size of your solar system depends on a number of factors:

  • How much electricity your home uses
  • Shadow free roof space that is available.

In general, your solar system will not be designed to offset 80% of your electricity needs. This is because it makes more financial sense to get some of your electricity from solar energy and the rest from the Electricity Board.

The easiest and most accurate way to figure out the exact solar System Capacity for your home is by getting a free solar consultation. Contact our marketing person for more details.

5. How do I get power at night with my solar power system?

Although Solar system doesn’t produce any electricity at night, a process called Battery Backup allows you to benefit from the day’s production.

During day time the power produced by the system is used by the load, the excess power generated by the system will be stored by using a battery bank (a group of Lithium ion batteries either connected in series or parallel), which can be used later to power your electricity need during night.

6. How long will a home solar power system last?

Most home solar power systems are predicted to last between 25 and 35 years. Solariz Green Power’s System is said to last for 25 years. The inverter will need to be replaced in about ten years. 7. How frequently should I clean my panels?

The solar electricity your panels produce will naturally vary depending mostly on the season and number of daylight hours. Most dust that gets on your panels will significantly reduce your solar energy production by 5% to 15%. It’s best to clean your panels twice a week just by using clean water.

8. What happens when it rains?

It doesn’t have to be completely sunny for your panels to produce electricity. In bad weather, your panel production won’t be 100%, but your panels will still be producing power. On a cloudy day, your panels might produce 30% of what they normally would.

9. If the power goes out, will my home solar power system keep producing electricity?

Yes, if it is on day time. During night time power shut down the battery bank will provide your electricity needs.
